In the year 1964, a charitable organisation namely North Dum Dum Development Corporation was formed by some eminent Social Workers And leading porsonalities with a zeal for rendering medical and other public utility services to the economically backward people of the neighborhood of Birati under North Dum Dum Municipality, West Bengal, INDIA. The organisation was registered under Societies Registration Act, 1961 in the same year(Reg. no. S/6293 of 1964-1965). In the meantime a piece of land measuring 5 Bighas(72,000 Sq. ft.) was gifted to he organisation by Late Debenbranath Palit and Late Praimal Chandra Palit of Nabanagar to establish a hospital.

The seed of a Herculian task was sown by establishing an Outdoor Charitable Clinic in the name and style “Swami Vivekananda Seva Sadan” in the premises of the said gifted land at 1, Nabanagar Road, Kolkata-51. The journey started from the year 1973 in a tile shed thatched house. In course of time a one storied building of about 2000 sq.ft. was constructed with help from benevolent persons and N.G.O.s like Lion’s Club,Golpark. With proper permission of Chief Medical Officer(Health), Barasat, North 24 Parganas a Charitable Outdoor Patient Department and a Day Care Unit(Eye) for Cataract and other operations of eye are run with the help of voluntary service rendered by renowned physicians. A ward consisting of six beds and an Air Conditioned Operation Theatre have also been constructed.

Fortunately we have created a demand in the locality which is evident from the number of patients attending daily to obtain free health care service from different specialist physicians.

i) Obtained permission for running an outdoor patient Department (O.P.D) and a Day Care Unit from Chief Medical Officer(Health), North 24 Parganas, Govt. of West Bengal.

ii) Obtained No objection Certificate from Pollution Control Board, West Bengal.

iii) Obtained facilities of Tax Exemption u/s 80G of Income Tax Act Rules.

iv) North Dum Dum Municipility has exempted the organisation from payment of Municipal Tax.
